Micah's Note:

I hope you enjoy this meal as much as I do. I love the pesto in this dish. It’s bright, herbaceous and just the right kind of salty. When Jesus command us to be salt and light, did he ever think we could be too salty? I think of the Apostle Peter. When he was at his best, people thought he was crazy: walking on water in the middle of the night or preaching a sermon so passionately people thought he was drunk. At least twice he was “nice” and tried to fit in: denying Jesus in the courtyard and refusing to eat with non-Jews later in Acts. Both times he valued niceness and social acceptability over his God given saltiness. He was a rough and salty fisherman who was, usually, unafraid to make cringe worthy mistakes for his LORD. Michael Card puts it beautifully in his song God’s Own Fool:

So come lose your life for a carpenter's son
For a madman who died for a dream
Then you'll have the faith His first followers had
And you'll feel the weight of the beam.
So surrender the hunger to say you must know
Have the courage to say I believe
For the power of paradox opens your eyes
And blinds those who say they can see.
